The Trail
| |
The trail will be accessible to pedestrian, wheelchair and vehicular traffic, and will provide an ideal opportunity for visitors to learn more about our rich, diverse country in a beautiful, fresh air setting in the largest urban municipal park in North America - Rockwood Park. Visit Canada Visitez will meander through the scenic Fisher Lakes of Rockwood Park, located in the heart of Saint John, New Brunswick. With its 2,200 acres, Rockwood Park provides a spacious, beautiful setting.
Being only a five-minute drive from the centre of the city, the park is highly visible. The miles of nature trails; the Fisher Lakes; Cherry Brook Zoo (the first accredited zoo in Atlantic Canada); a special events pavilion; campground; an 18-hole golf course; outdoor skating, skiing, tobogganing and sleigh rides; and an Interpretation Center attract a high volume of traffic through Rockwood Park.

Trail Sites
Each province/territory will have its own decorative plaza and will receive an honourary deed to their site. All sites will proudly fly the appropriate flag and will feature benches; interpretive signs; and braille and textured relief bronze medallions for the visually impaired. The sites will accommodate classroom-sized groups.
Engraved 2-3 ton stone monuments -- quarried from each of the provinces and territories and delivered to Saint John -- will serve as centerpieces for each of the sites. These stones will sit atop a map of Canada with the site location highlighted on the map.
